LaMadeleine, Albert
(J.O.) Albert LaMadeleine. Violoneux, b Valleyfield 10 Mar 1905, d Laval, near Montreal, 4 Jun 1986. He studied with his father, Joseph, and at 17 began to play for dances, making his career initially in the northeastern USA. Settling in Montreal he worked for an oil company but continued to perform for dances and festivals and made his first 78s for RCA Victor in 1929, completing nine (listed in Roll Back the Years) for that label. He also recorded with his father for Starr. With a trio that included the harmonica player Henri Lacroix, he was heard in the 1930s on radio station CHLP, Montreal. He was still performing in the 1970s when Bonanza released three LPs under the name J.O. Albert LaMadeleine: Trois Petits Coups d'archet (B-29544), Volume 2 (B-29573), and Le Réel Mirabel (B-29656).
