Trio Victoria. Formed in 1965 as trio-in-residence of the Victoria School of Music (later Victoria Conservatory of Music). The original members were Robin Wood (piano), Jean Angers (violin), and Hans Siegrist (cello). Angers was succeeded by Jack Kessler in 1967, Kessler by Sydney Humphreys in 1970, Humphreys by Derek Collier in 1972, Collier by Harry Cawood in 1973, and Cawood by Humphreys in 1975. Siegrist was succeeded by James Hunter in 1967. Wood and Humphreys had been associates 1954-65 in England as members of the St Cecilia Trio. Trio Victoria gave six concerts during its first season, tripling that number by 1970. In 1972 it travelled to Hawaii and in 1977 toured California with the Cassenti Players. It has also toured British Columbia and the northwestern USA, and has performed on CBC radio and TV. In Feb 1990 the trio participated in the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Victoria Cons by performing a concert at the MacPherson Playhouse, Victoria. It performs the standard repertoire for piano trio with the addition of contemporary European and Canadian works.
