Davidson, Sarah
Sarah Davidson. Harpist, teacher, b Toronto 5 Dec 1958. A pupil of Judy Loman (harp) and Bonnie Silver (music theory) in her teens, Sarah Davidson first appeared as guest soloist with the Toronto Symphony at age 14, returning at 18. She became the principal harpist with the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra in 1979, with the National Ballet Orchestra 1980-5, and variously with the Toronto Symphony, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Esprit Orchestra and the Hamilton Philharmonic. She has also performed as a soloist in England and Scotland. She has taught privately since 1976, and has been an adjudicator for various competitions and at the Glenn Gould School and the University of Toronto. She began teaching harp performance at the Don Wright Faculty of Music (University of Western Ontario) in 2006.
Her father was the jazz musician Jimmy (Trump) Davidson.
