Gagnier, Roland
Roland Gagnier. Bassoonist, teacher, b Montreal 17 May 1905, d there 24 Jul 1975. He did all his studies under the direction of his father, Joseph. He was principal bassoon 1925-47 in the Canadian Grenadier Guards Band, 1940-53 in the CSM Orchestra, 1953-7 in the MSO, and 1968-70 in the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. He was a member 1942-9 of the Gagnier Woodwind Quintet. He taught 1945-50 at the CMM and took part in several CBC radio and TV broadcasts.
