Norma Lee Bisha

Norma Lee Bisha was principal viola 1956-66 in the CBC Halifax Orchestra, a member of the Canadian Viola Society, and taught at Brandon University 1966-8 and at the University of Saskatchewan in 1970. She was second violin, then viola, of the Amati String Quartet. Her pupils included Neal Gripp.

Violist, violinist, teacher, born Andersonville, Va, 3 Sep 1926, naturalized Canadian 1973, died Halifax, 27 Dec 2010; B MUS (North Carolina) 1947, M MUS (Cincinnati Conservatory) 1949. Norma Lee Bisha studied viola at the Manhattan School of Music 1950-1; the Mannes Music School 1953-4; privately with Lillian Fuchs, summer of 1958; and at Indiana University (Bloomington) summers 1970-1.
