Crouse, Lloyd Roseville
Lloyd Roseville Crouse, fisherman, politician, lieutenant-governor of NS (b at Lunenberg, NS 19 Nov 1918, d there 28 Apr 2007). Crouse served in the RCAF during WWII as a pilot. After the war he established Crouse Fisheries, the first of three fishing companies he owned. He was first elected to the House of Commons in 1957 and won re-election nine consecutive times, serving 31 years as an MP before retiring prior to the 1988 general election. A distinguished parliamentarian with a penchant for no-nonsense debate, Crouse was Canada's longtime delegate to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conferences. He was appointed lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia in 1989, and served in that position until 1994. He was awarded the Order of Nova Scotia in 2002.
