Boucher, Lise
Lise Boucher. Pianist, teacher, b Montreal 21 May 1941; premier prix piano (CMM) 1957. She was a piano pupil of Germaine Malépart at the CMM. In 1958 she was awarded the Prix d'Europe, and for the following six years she studied in Paris with Antoine Reboulot, whom she later married. She won second prize in the 1961 JMC (YMC) National Competition and toured in 1962, 1964, and 1965 for JMC. Boucher reached the finals of the 1965 International Competition in Munich. She has appeared regularly on the CBC as a soloist and has given numerous recitals and concerts with the McGill Chamber Orchestra, the 'Little Symphonies' Orchestra, CBC orchestras, the SMCQ and the symphony orchestras of Quebec and Vancouver. In Europe she also has performed as soloist with the Suisse Romande Orchestra, the Spanish Radio-TV Orchestra and has made recordings for Radio France. In 1965 she was pianist and coach at the CMM, and she has accompanied several instrumentalists, including Steven Staryk and Arthur Garami. She began to teach at the CMM in 1967. Pierre Prévost, in a review in Montreal's Le Jour (25 Nov 1977), wrote: 'She is a very engaging pianist and plays with authority, delicacy and taste'. In 1966 she recorded five sets of Variations by Mozart (K353, K455, K460, K500 and K573) for Baroque (BC 2872). See also Discography for Steven Staryk.
