Key Porter Books
Key Porter Books, a former Canadian book publishing company, was one of the last independent publishing houses in Canada. It was founded in 1979 by Anna Porter and Key Publishers Limited and represented 40 publishers and distributed more than 50 000 titles.
In 2004, Porter sold her portion of the company to the book distributor H.B. Fenn. In January 2011, Key Porter Books closed its doors citing shrinking profit margins and the emergence of e-books as the cause of bankruptcy.
Although specializing in non-fiction books, including specialty hockey books, Key Porter Books also published fiction works. Authors like Allan FOTHERINGHAM, Farley MOWAT, Joan BARFOOT, Conrad BLACK, Pamela WALLIN and Dennis LEE published works through the company.
