Terebesi, György
Terebesi, György. Violinist, teacher, b Budapest 23 Jul 1932, naturalized German 1970, naturalized Canadian 1986. He studied violin and chamber music in Budapest, at the Conservatory (1948-50) and at the Franz Liszt Academy (1950-4). Leaving Hungary in 1956, he received further training in Paris (1957-9). Subsequent to a series of concerts with orchestra in Paris, Nancy and Monte-Carlo, and recitals in France, Germany, South America and North Africa, he was concertmaster with various orchestras in Munich, Pforzheim, and Frankfurt. In 1973, he performed Bach concertos on a tour with Henryk Szeryng. He was invited (1971-3) by CAMMAC to teach violin and chamber music. Settling in Quebec City in 1981, he was appointed professor at Laval University. In 1982, became first violin of the Laval String Quartet, of which he was a founding member.
