Gérard Gélinas. Bass, b Montreal 11 Apr 1907, d there 2 Mar 1965. Gérard Gélinas placed second among 300 competitors in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions of the Air in 1937. He toured New England and Louisiana with a troupe from the Metropolitan Opera.

Gérard Gélinas. Bass, b Montreal 11 Apr 1907, d there 2 Mar 1965. Gérard Gélinas placed second among 300 competitors in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions of the Air in 1937. He toured New England and Louisiana with a troupe from the Metropolitan Opera. With members of the same troupe, he sang Lavitsky in a Montreal performance of Boris Godunov in 1943. He also sang the title role in that opera during a US tour. In 1942 he joined an entertainment unit of the Canadian Armed Forces. He later devoted himself to horticulture but continued to sing as soloist at the churches of St-Sacrement and Ste-Madeleine in Montreal.

His son was the actor and songwriter Marc Gélinas.
