Dumouchel, Édouard
(Alphonse) Édouard Dumouchel. Organist, pianist, teacher, b Rigaud, near Montreal, 1 Mar 1841, d Ogdensburg, NY, 21 Sep 1914. He attended college in Rigaud and studied music with his aunt, Esther Fournier. He was an organ teacher in Ogdensburg in 1867, the year in which he and his twin brother Arthur had been featured in two concerts given by 300 musicians. He participated in numerous concerts with his brother, and others with the soprano Emma Lajeunesse (the future Albani) and her sister Cornelia, a pianist. Le Canada musical reported in April 1867 that the Dumouchel brothers 'are well known and have a great reputation in a large part of the United States'. In 1870 Édouard went to continue his studies in Germany. Subsequently he visited several countries, including England, Spain, and Egypt. He settled in Ogdensburg in 1883 and taught organ there for several years. Édouard and Arthur were buried at Rigaud.
