Devina Bailey. Mezzo-soprano, teacher, administrator, b Winnipeg; LRAM 1969, FTCL 1969. Bailey studied with Nina Dempsey, Gladys Whitehead, and Filmer Hubble, singing frequently in the 1950s in public and on CBC radio.

Devina Bailey. Mezzo-soprano, teacher, administrator, b Winnipeg; LRAM 1969, FTCL 1969. Bailey studied with Nina Dempsey, Gladys Whitehead, and Filmer Hubble, singing frequently in the 1950s in public and on CBC radio. After a year (1955) with Roy Henderson in England she resumed her Canadian career, of which a highlight was the solo role in the North American premiere 23 Apr 1959 of Grace Williams' The Dancers with the Winnipeg Ladies' Choir under Hubble. Returning to England in 1962 she sang in recital and oratorio. In 1975 she began teaching at the University of Western Ontario. That same year she was heard in two CBC recitals. In 1977 she was soprano soloist in performances of Elijah and the Vivaldi Gloria in London, Ont. In 1991 she was registrar of the WOCM. Bailey is married to tenor, Carl Duggan.
