Pierre Daignault. Actor, folksinger, writer, born Montreal 25 Mar 1925, died Laval 18 Dec 2003. He made his stage debut in 1939 and as a performer and caller of square dances, and was a regular member of the CBC radio folk-music program 'Soirée de chez-nous' in 1947.

He made his stage debut in 1939 and as a performer and caller of square dances, and was a regular member of the CBC radio folk-music program 'Soirée de chez-nous' in 1947. He was also the star of CKVL radio's 'Swing la baquaise' with Adrien Avon and his Gais Lurons. On CFTM TV 1961-74 Daignault was host and script writer of the programs 'Chez Isidore', 'Comme dans l'bon temps,' and 'À la Canadienne'. He collected several chansons à répondre (repetition songs) published in the volumes Vive la compagnie (Montreal 1961) and À la Québécoise (Montreal 1973). His discography includes albums for RCA and Trans-Canada and a series of LPs (Bal Canadien en plein air) for Carnaval: Chansons à répondre (C-525), Paul Jones (C-526), and Gigues et reels (C-527). As an actor, he performed in radio serials in Montreal and had some film roles. Under the pseudonym of Pierre Saurel. he is the author of some 2000 detective stories, spy thrillers and other fiction. In 1991 he was living in Florida.
