Albert Peter Low, geologist, explorer (b at Montréal 24 May 1861; d at Ottawa 9 Oct 1942). Low joined the Geological Survey of Canada on graduation from McGill. The Québec-Labrador border was eventually defined on the basis of his 1893-95 explorations.

Albert Peter Low, geologist, explorer (b at Montréal 24 May 1861; d at Ottawa 9 Oct 1942). Low joined the Geological Survey of Canada on graduation from McGill. The Québec-Labrador border was eventually defined on the basis of his 1893-95 explorations. He resigned in 1901 to prospect for iron on Hudson Bay, but returned to government service and spent the winter of 1903-04 on board the Neptune at Cape Fullerton on the west side of Hudson Bay. Low became director of the Geological Survey in 1906 and deputy minister of mines in 1907; illness led to his retirement in 1913.
