Kent, Thomas Worrall
Thomas Worrall Kent, journalist, public servant (b at Stafford, Eng 3 Apr 1922). An Oxford graduate, Kent worked for the Manchester Guardian and The Economist before coming to Canada, where he became editor of The Winnipeg Free Press (1954-59). From 1963 to 1966 he was PM PEARSON's principal policy adviser. He then served as deputy minister in the Departments of Manpower and Immigration and Regional Economic Expansion. He headed Devco (1971-77) and Sydney Steel (1977-79) in NS, headed a royal commission on the press (1980-81), and became dean at Dalhousie (1980-83).
