Lajeunesse, Cornélia Nelly
(Marie-Lélia) Cornélia (Cordélia) Nelly Lajeunesse. Pianist, teacher, contralto, b Chambly, near Montreal, 31 Mar 1849 or 29 May 1854, d London? ca 1932. Like her sister, Emma (m Albani), she received her musical training from her parents and at the Sacré-Coeur Convent at Sault-au-Récollet, near Montreal. As a singer and pianist she participated in her sister's first concerts in Montreal in September 1862 and in the USA after 1864. She often played the second piano, Emma the first, in a ' Grand Duett for 2 pianos (25 pages) composed by Mlle Emma.' She met her sister in Europe ca 1870 and accompanied her on several of her trips. After three years of study ca 1874-7 at the Stuttgart Cons she received a diploma in harmony. She lived a long while in Spain as music teacher for the children of the royal family. She rejoined her sister in London in the early 1900s.
